Need a Denture in Waterdown?
Waterdown Denture Clinic

Are you looking for a Denture?

Dentures are used by millions of people around the world to replace some or all of their teeth. Dentures also have a very long history that goes back centuries, but today thanks to great advancements in technology you can find the right type of dentures for your needs.

Waterdown Smiles Dentistry offers the type of services needed to restore your smile and allow you to chew and enjoy your food in a normal fashion once again. The clinic offers different types of dentures to meet the specific needs of their patients. A full examination will be needed to determine the type of dentures that you will need.

Full Dentures

Full dentures are required when all the teeth need to be replaced. There are standard dentures which have the general look and appearance of real teeth, but they will require adjustments and more trips to the dentist as they will come loose from time to time. Personalized or customized dentures are created to fit your personal jaw and gum line so that they require less maintenance and adjustment over time.

Partials

Partials are dentures that are supported by the remaining natural teeth or by a combination of the tooth and tissues in the mouth. Partials are used when there are a number of good, healthy teeth that are remaining in the mouth and the partial denture can use them as support to fill in the gaps. Partials may be crafted from a number of different materials which include the following;

  • Acrylics
  • Metal/Acrylic Combination
  • Flexible Thermoplastics

Acrylics are generally used for transition or temporary teeth while the metal/acrylic combination has greater rigidity and is for permanent usage. Flexible thermoplastics are relatively new and have the advantages of looking more like real teeth and greater flexibility.

A good set of partials may actually protect the remaining natural teeth by keeping them in place. Plus, they will bring back your smile and help you to chew better as well.

Immediate Dentures

This is a temporary denture that is used when you are in a situation when your teeth are about to be removed and they will be replaced at a later time. The procedure consists of using the remaining teeth in the mouth for impressions which will be used as the basis for creating a temporary set. They will look very much like your normal teeth and many people will not be able to tell the difference.

Once your natural teeth are extracted, they are replaced by the immediate denture so that during the healing process you will have teeth to chew and smile. However, it must be noted that as your gums and mouth heal, there will need to be adjustments made from time to time.

When you are facing the prospect of having either full or partial dentures, the professionals at Waterdown Smiles Dentistry are here and ready to help. They have the knowledge, experience and medical technology needed to fit you with a comfortable set of dentures that will allow you to chew comfortably and bring back your smile as well.
